IT ALL BEGINS

After months of researching, reading, studying, contemplating, sketching, and modelmaking, it is finally go-time! The snow has melted away and we are looking at a string of warm, sunny and bug-free days- perfect for the not-so-easy task of barn deconstruction. Lisa took this photo as I was taking the corrogated metal siding off the walls and removing the gutters, eaves and lower shingles. The timbers hidden underneath were covered with alot of dust and bat guano, but otherwise in like-new condition. Fun!

Ocean View

I was down in Duluth last week for the Arrowhead Home & Builders Show, trying to do some brainstorming for the barn renovation project. It was a beautiful day and I had to snap a few shots of the ice flows around the Canal Park lighthouse.

Snow Happens

Had to strap on the boards one last time for the year...how often do you get to ski on Easter?? The trails were not up to the usual state of Giants Ridge perfection, but who cares in April! Happy Easter everyone.

Springtime in northern Minnesota

Shawn took these pictures yesterday AM. There wasn't any thought of outside barn duties today. Barn renovation planning is still going strong indoors while inside sitting by a warm fire. We are hoping to start building when the snow melts... We will hopefully keep up on postings. We will share the good, bad, and funny of barn renovation.

LAST WEEK...

Shawn and his dad were working outside on a gorgeous 70 degree day. This was the first day the sawmill was used by Shawn and his dad working together. It was day of learning. Many logs were cut and are now drying in back of the barn.

Hopefully, the snow will melt soon and we will be able to get back to outside work. In the meantime we will enjoy the snow. I hear the ski trails are groomed and looking good at Giants Ridge.
